“Building the Future with Migrants and Refugees” is the theme chosen by the Holy Father for the 108th World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR). Pope Francis highlights the commitment that we are all called to share in building a future that embraces God’s plan, leaving no one behind.
St. Joseph Church celebrated this day by recognizing them and inviting the parishioners to listen to the struggle they went through on their journey to Malaysia. The Myanmar community who turned out in large numbers celebrated the Eucharistic Celebration at noon and later got together at Dewan Msgr. Anthony Thomas. The church had arranged for a sumptuous lunch and the Myanmar community had a lineup of entertainment. Our Parish Priest, Fr. Frederick Joseph, the Myanmar Priest Fr. Robert Kham along with the PPC Chairman, Gabriel Moses and a few other leaders from the various ministries joined them in this celebration.
Fr. Frederick in his speech assured them that they are the parishioners of St. Joseph Church and they are no less than the other parishioners of this parish. Gabriel Moses in his speech, gave them the assurance of his undivided support to provide them with their needs. Bosco the coordinator of the Myanmar community worked hard with their members to get this day organized.
The Myanmar community thanked the parish priest Fr. Frederick Joseph for being always supportive and welcoming and also for letting them use the facilities with no reservation. It was a joyful time to see how the Myanmar community were so united and joyous. The celebration ended at 5.00 pm.
