“Walking Towards A Year of Mercy…
from the Springs of Family Life”
1st Year Mission (2015): “Jesus, the Heart of the Family”.
2nd Year Mission (2016): “BEC, Witnessing Jesus Through Works of Mercy”
3rd Year Mission (2017): “Sacraments: Celebrating Jesus in the Sacraments”.
We are coming to the end of our focus on the “Year of the Family”, which is our parish’s 1st year mission – “Jesus: the Heart of the Family.” We have heard, discussed, reflected and shared many related topics in the context of family life this past one year.
I would like to ask you, dear families: Do you pray together from time to time as a family? How are things when it comes to joy at home? I know many of you do pray as individuals and families regularly. We realize that we need Jesus in our home as the Head of our family and a Guest of Honour. In Jesus, there is Joy and we can attain peace even in the midst of trials at home. We need His help, His strength, His blessing, His mercy, His forgiveness as we build healthy homes.
On November 29th, during the 9.00 am Holy Mass, we shall celebrate our inclusion in the “ORANGE THE WORLD” international awareness-raising campaign – a 16-day Global Activism to stop violence against women and children. It takes place every year from 25 November. Women and children are an integral part of our families and we shall ensure that they get help if they are emotionally, physically or sexuality abused.
Pope Francis has announced that the Year of Mercy will be launched on the feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8th, 2015. In this upcoming Year of Mercy, let us bring the presence of God and His Love into our families and be more welcoming, merciful and respectful towards our women and children at home and in our community. Jesus teaches us how to be patient, and loving with each other especially our partner and our children.
We, the families of SJC will be launching our 2nd year mission: “BEC, Witnessing Jesus Through Works of Mercy”. Let us not forget or ignore our family values and concerns, which we has been our emphasis since early this year. We need to look into our family environment throughout our lives. Is there a spirit of joy in my family? Do ask yourselves questions like this as a kind of “homework” for as long as you live within the family milieu.
Dear families, always live in faith and simplicity, like the Holy Family of Nazareth! Parents, you should be the first preachers of faith to your children so that they may grow in respect of one another’s rights.
The joy and peace of the Lord be always with you!
