My warm greetings to all of you. My name is Jeshua Nathaniel Devan and I was just confirmed last month. Let me be honest, I was brought up in a Catholic environment. From my younger days I always wondered who was God and why is He important in every religion. I also wondered what God was going to do. This always intrigued me because I am more scientific person and science fascinates me and so does the person who is called God. For me, I cannot see God so as people say and talk; I feel God is in ethereal form. I really cannot understand the figure God; it is like a different topic or a subject which I cannot understand or master in any possible way.
This is where Catechism came in; Catechism nurtured me to grow into who I am now. It was the source for the sudden growth of my faith. I can really tell that I sprouted into a bold figure now. My years of Catechism taught me who God is and He has a wonderful plan for all of us, and “He is the way, the truth and the life,” [John 14.6] for us all.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a beautiful Sacrament. Honestly, I was faithful and studied hard during my confirmation class. I realised this Sacrament is one of the most important which will determine my spiritual life. All the Catechism camps have really helped me to grow in maturity, spiritually and to get to God.
While the Confirmation ceremony was going on, I felt an adrenaline rush out of nowhere. As my turn came, I walked towards the Archbishop and he anointed me. At that moment I felt like Christ Himself anointing me. It was a wonderful feeling. From that moment I felt the working of the Holy Spirit in me. I see a little different in my life. I felt that I can move forward just like a bullet; with that high penetrating power. I’m like an arrow now just aiming towards the bull’s-eye so I will not falter from my path. At the end of this, people may ask if there is suffering everywhere, disasters, war and all unspeakable acts, so where is God now? Just remember 1 Peter 1:6-7 (In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.) I thank God for all the abundant gifts and blessings he gives.
