SJC & RCC Formation Day 2026: Custodians of the Catholic Faith
On 13 June 2026, the second Formation Day for catechists was held at the Church of the Risen Christ. A total of 39 catechists from the Church of the Risen Christ and the Church of St. Joseph gathered for a day of learning, reflection, and fellowship under the theme “Custodians of the Catholic Faith.”

The day began with registration and lively ice-breaking activities led by teachers and youth members from the Church of the Risen Christ. These activities helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants to interact and build stronger bonds within the catechetical community.

The first session, “An Introduction to Apologetics”, was facilitated by T. Walter. Participants were introduced to the meaning and purpose of Catholic apologetics, learning how it helps Catholics understand, explain, and defend their faith with confidence, clarity, and charity. The session emphasised the importance of knowing the teachings of the Church and being prepared to respond to questions about the Catholic faith.

In the second session, “Safeguarding the Deposit of Faith,” T. Richard explained the responsibility of Catholics to preserve and faithfully transmit the teachings handed down through Scripture and Tradition. Using the metaphor of a safety deposit box, he illustrated how the Deposit of Faith is a precious treasure entrusted to the Church and must be carefully protected and passed on to future generations.
The final session, “Defending Our Faith,” also facilitated by T. Richard, provided participants with opportunities to apply what they had learned through group activities and discussions. Catechists worked together to reflect on common challenges faced by Catholics and explored ways to respond to questions about the faith with wisdom, understanding, and compassion. The session encouraged active participation and strengthened the catechists’ confidence in witnessing to and sharing their faith.

The Formation Day concluded with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment among the catechists as they continue their mission of nurturing and safeguarding the Catholic faith within their respective communities.
