Exposition of Holy Relics Lands in SJC
The lives of the saints have always been a wonder. A gift of faith and sacrifice that speaks volumes.

On the 28th February 2026 and 1st of March 2026, parishioners of SJC and RCC had the chance to venerate over 90 holy relics of saints and blessed, brought by Penang Diocesan Catechetical Commission’s (PDCC) Holy Relics Team.
The Holy Relics Team is led by lay members, specially trained to reach out and catechise the faithful on the saints and the blessed of the Church. There were several classes of relics exposed.

Classes of Relics
- First Class: Instruments of Our Lord’s Passion or physical remains of a saint, such as a piece of bone, flesh, hair, or skull of those declared Blessed or Saint.
- Second Class: Items used by the saint during life such as clothing, books, rosaries or fragments of a coffin.
- Third Class: Pieces of cloth that have touched a First- or Second-class relic or to the saints themselves.
All the relics were showcased in intricately designed reliquaries or frames. The relics include those of St Francis of Assisi, St Padre Pio, St Thérѐse of Lisieux, St Maria Goretti, St. Carlos Acutis and many more.

The event offered over 400 parishioners a rare opportunity to encounter the relics of saints, learn about their lives, and draw inspiration from their path to sainthood. It also provided a chance for them to seek the intercession of these saints in their personal prayers.

On the second day of the exposition and veneration, the parish priest, Fr Frederick Joseph, incensed the relics, adding a reverent atmosphere. On the same day, the children, as part of their catechism journey, came in batches to learn about the saints and have personal time of prayer.

We praise and thank God for the Relics Team who have answered a call, and who have embarked on systematic process of obtaining relics. This includes coordinating with the General Postulator handling Causes of Canonisation at the Holy See and with saints’ shrines worldwide. This also encompasses the care of the relics.
Their dedication allows the faithful to encounter these relics and learn more about the saints, keeping their legacy alive. May God continue to bless them for their tireless work and sacrifice.
