In conjunction with the feast of Sts Peter and Paul and the Year of Mercy, a bus load of 44 pilgrims made a trip to the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, Banting, Selangor to journey through the “Holy Door of Mercy” on 1 July 2016 (Friday). Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, Banting is one of the five designated churches for the Holy Door of Mercy in Peninsular Malaysia.
Just before the bus departed from St. Joseph’s Church, Sentul at 3.00 pm The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. George Packiasamy led the pilgrims in prayer and blessed the pilgrims to have a safe journey. As the bus meandered out of KL traffic , Dorothy Selva led the pilgrims in the recitation of the rosary.
On arrival at the Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, the pilgrims recited the YOM prayer and entered through the Holy Door of Mercy of the Church. The pilgrimage coincided with the day three of the Feast Day celebrations of Sts. Peter and Paul.
The pilgrims also took the opportunity to reminisce with the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Alan Pereira who was previously the Parish Priest in St. Joseph Church, Sentul. The pilgrims participated in the Blessed Sacrament Adoration followed by the Novena Mass to Sts Peter and Paul which was celebrated by Fr Alan. After which the pilgrims had a light refreshment and fellowship with the parishioners. The pilgrims returned home safely by 11.30 p.m.
