St. Joseph’s Church PIHDM together with National Blood Center conducted their yearly blood donation drive on Sunday, 12th June 2016.
A nine-member team from National Blood Center led by Dr. Wan Nurul Husna binti Wan Alkamar Shah was here at 8.00 am to help PIHDM with the blood donation drive. Dr. Wan Nurul advised all donors to have their breakfast as most donors came with an empty stomach. The National blood bank will be low on blood as all Muslims will be fasting and it is customary for PIHD to have this blood donation drive at this time to try their level best to off-set any shortage of blood.
A newcomer Rachael Baptist said this is her first time. She said, “I was nervous in the beginning…but it was a breeze.” “Dr. Wan Nurul told me that we can donate every three months and I will be back next year.” Rachael added. She hopes that more people will come forward to donate blood, especially the youths as it is an opportunity to help another life, which is what we are all called to do.
Turnout were mostly women who braved the early morning downpour. Total registered was 22 and 20 bags of blood were collected. PIHD would like to thank National Blood Centre and the donors for their generosity.
