The Eagle’s Wing Ministry of St. Joseph’s Church, Sentul, was the focus for the IDD celebration this year on Sunday, 4th December 2016. To mark their 9th year as a ministry within the umbrella of the Parish Integral Human Development Ministry (PIHDM), they invited those with special needs from other parishes to join in. Members came from Wheels, Reach and the Faith & Light Community.
Differently-abled persons animated the 9.00 am Mass with the theme: “LORD, USE US TO BUILD BRIDGES AND PAVE ROADS IN SPREADING UNITY WITH LOVE”. Mass was presided over by Archbishop Emeritus The Most Rev. Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam, and con-celebrated by the Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur Diocese, The Most Rev. Julian Leow Beng Kim.
In his homily, His Grace Murphy touched on the daily challenges faced by the differently-abled, their dignity as children of God, and their desire to serve in the community life of the parish. There is no separate church for the differently-abled, and all are one in the Body of Christ.
After Mass there was a joyous fellowship in the church hall, where members were entertained by songs performed by the special-needs Sunday School children, and everyone freely mingled with the 2 VIP guests.
The Eagle’s Wing Ministry is formed by persons with different abilities, FOR those with special needs, with the help of family, friends and volunteers.
