In the one we are one.

On 1st March 2026, a group of 40 Catechism students from Form 4 and Form 5 visited PJ Senior Care as part of a church outreach program. The aim of this outreach was to extend compassion and support to the elderly residents by spending time with them, assisting them with simple tasks, and bringing warmth and joy through our presence. The bus rides to and from PJ Senior Care were lively and fun. My friends and I rehearsed our performance on the way there. We also played songs on a speaker and sang our hearts out, laughing and enjoying ourselves.
When we arrived, it was already lunchtime, so many of us helped to feed the residents and assist the staff with their duties. We also spent time conversing with the elderly and learning about their backgrounds and life experiences. In addition, we prepared a small performance to entertain them and brighten the atmosphere.
The experience was both meaningful and emotional for me and my friends. Many of the residents shared personal stories from their lives, some of which were quite heartbreaking to hear. Nevertheless, it was truly heartwarming to see their smiles and to know that our presence brought them comfort and happiness. Helping them, performing for them, and simply spending time together made the day very special. On the ride back, we shared our favourite moments from the visit while playing more songs and singing together. We reflected on what we had learned, realizing how important small acts of kindness are and how much joy can come from connecting with others, regardless of age. This outreach was a memorable and eye-opening experience, reminding us of the importance of empathy, compassion, and forming meaningful connections with people of all ages.
