“O Lord My God, I Cried to You”: Healing & Deliverance Seminar Prepares Faithful for Lent
The Church of St. Joseph, Sentul, together with the Church of the Risen Christ, Jalan Ipoh, jointly organised a Healing & Deliverance Seminar from 13 to 15 February 2026 at St. Joseph Church, Sentul. Held in preparation for the Season of Lent, the seminar drew 180 participants from the organising parishes as well as neighbouring parishes and several dioceses.
The seminar was anchored on the theme verse from Psalm 30:2: “O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me.” This Scripture framed the weekend as a journey of faith — a call to cry out to the Lord and trust in His healing grace.
The Parish Priest of St. Joseph Church, Fr. Frederick Joseph, welcomed participants on the opening evening. He encouraged everyone to be fully present, setting aside all distractions, and to focus instead on encountering Jesus personally throughout the seminar.
The speaker, Bro Jude Antoine, a full-time Catholic lay missionary and a son of St. Joseph Church, Sentul, has been in full-time ministry for over 32 years. He has preached internationally in 45 countries, proclaiming the Gospel and ministering in healing and deliverance. Throughout the seminar, he led the sessions on inner healing, repentance, and spiritual freedom.
The seminar was deeply rooted in the Word of God, with Scripture forming the foundation of every teaching and prayer session. Emphasis was placed on addressing issues at their root. Participants were reminded that unresolved wounds, bitterness, and sinful patterns can take root in the heart and eventually manifest as deeper spiritual and emotional struggles.
Bro Jude explained that authentic healing begins when we allow the Lord to reveal these roots. Rather than managing outward symptoms alone, participants were encouraged to bring hidden areas before Christ and begin the healing process through repentance and surrender.
In speaking on deliverance, Bro Jude maintained a Christ-centred approach. Quoting 1 John 4:4 — “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” — he reminded participants that Jesus has authority over all evil. Deliverance, therefore, is not rooted in fear, but in confidently returning to Christ.
Preparation for deliverance was described as a spiritual discipline: returning wholeheartedly to Jesus, repenting and renouncing sin, practising fasting, welcoming the Holy Spirit, and sustaining spiritual fervour through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship. Participants were also encouraged to be vigilant about “open doors” that may allow the evil one entry into their lives, and to close these doors through repentance and obedience.
Two praying-over sessions were held on Saturday and Sunday as part of the programme. During these times, participants were individually prayed over, seeking healing and freedom in the name of Jesus. The combined praise and worship team from both parishes created a Spirit-filled atmosphere that fostered reverence, openness, and a deeper encounter with Christ.
Central to the seminar was the conviction that only Jesus heals. No human person possesses healing power; believers simply ask in faith, while God determines the manner and timing of His healing — whether immediate or gradual. The Gospel account of the woman with the haemorrhage (Mark 5:25–34) was shared as an example of faith reaching out to Christ in trust.
The power of the Holy Name of Jesus was also proclaimed, drawing from Philippians 2:9–11, affirming that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and that salvation and freedom are found in Him alone.
Many participants testified to experiencing spiritual renewal, deeper peace, and a renewed commitment to walk closely with the Lord as they prepare for Lent. Beyond personal healing, the seminar fostered unity among the faithful, drawing participants beyond parish boundaries into a shared encounter with Christ.
The organisers emphasised that after attending any seminar or retreat, it is important to continue building one’s faith journey within a community. Those in the vicinity are encouraged and warmly invited to join St. Joseph Church’s Prayer Group weekly prayer meetings held every Tuesday from 7.30pm to 10.00pm at Meeting Room 1, Ground Floor. The sessions include praying the Rosary, praise and worship, spiritual talks, Bible teachings, praying over, and fellowship. All are welcome.
