The “Equip Leadership 2016 Training” Part 1 of the 1st Module was held in SJC Formation House on August 27th 2016 from 8.30 am till 4 pm. The Million Leaders Mandate Notebook One was purchased at RM20/- to equip us throughout this 2 part seminar. It was conducted by International Speaker couple Eileen Leong and Lim Fung Ming. The speakers have been conducting and spreading these spiritually based seminars ever since they themselves had in person, experienced its awakening effects through the founder of The Equip Mandate himself, John C. Maxwell, an American Author, Speaker and Pastor, who has written various books primarily focusing on leadership through spirituality.
It couldn’t have been a more appropriate timing for Fr. George to present us St.Josephians’ with this opportunity to garner our individual leadership qualities and to foster it through the growth of Spirit.
The six hour seminar was jam-packed with guided slides and short video clips. Amongst a few were “Long Walk to Freedom”, the story of Nelson Mandela’s peacefulness, “The Chariots of Fire” which traced the story of Eric Henry Liddell, a Scottish athlete, an Olympian, a sprinter and a missionary who competed in sports for and in the glory of God’s name and “The Kings Speech” which depicted the life of England’s speech stuttering Prince Albert who successfully ascended as King George VI and secured the safe continuance of England’s Christianity. Each video clip was followed by short partnering discussions.
The seminar kicked off with the topic ‘God’s call for us to LEAD’ – Why? And How? We learnt that as Leaders we weren’t all perfect. This was made evident in King George VI’s video clip where he is quoted as saying that his “only” stumble over his ‘w’ vowel was actually “purposefully” done during his most important and memorable speech declaring war. We learnt that as Leaders we have been called to obedience and that failure was norm as has already been depicted throughout Our Bible.
Next we were guided through the 2nd topic “The Heart of a Leader”. Here we were posed with questions on morality and dignity as Leaders, be it as a Ministry Leader, as a Parent, as part of a family, as a Worker or even as a Human being. It was revealed to us the “Importance of Prayer” is to be incorporated into each aspect of our life stages. That a Leader’s heart should be able to read and discern the contents of other’s hearts too.
In the 3rd topic we were drawn into was “I have a Dream”. During this topic Eric Liddell’s life was utilized to enlighten us on how he lived his life to achieve his goals and dreams for the sole purpose to glorify and honour God Almighty.
Ending the seminar with an intriguing question the speaker Eileen posed this to us……”Why did You……. JESUS, ask us to serve? The participants answers to this were very similar and factual : US wanting to be close to HIM and for the true purpose of experiencing HIS love in our lives”.
Part 2 of Notebook One is scheduled to be held on September 17th 2016 and we are all rearing up to be led into the next leadership millennium that’s filled with the Holy Spirit.
