On 1st of June 2018, the Form 5 pre-confirmands of St. Joseph’s Parish attended their confirmation camp at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Nilai over 3 days and 2 nights. The group comprised 24 pre-confirmands and 3 teachers who accompanied them.
The camp was conducted by the New Thessalonian Apostolate (NTA) from Kulim, Kedah and led by Mr. Dave Jean Kameron, whose mission is to inspire society to uphold and safeguard human dignity in any and every way possible. The theme chosen for us was “Here I am Lord” to remind our young ones about their mission and responsibility to spread God’s word and love.
Throughout the 3 days, no slides, books or modules were used to educate and teach the pre-confirmands. Instead, we were told stories and testimonies by people who have actually struggled in life and were touched by God’s Love. The testimonies and stories shared were accompanied by praise and worship sessions, activities and entertaining skits all through camp.
The pre-confirmands attended sunset mass at St.Theresa’s Catholic Church, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Eugene Benedict. A visit was made by Archbishop Julian Leow to meet the pre-confirmands at the camp as they handed over their personal written letters to him. The camp had touched and fllled the hearts of the pre-confirmands to give themselves freely to God and to remain strong in the Catholic faith as they journey towards the Sacrament of Confirmation.
I personally feel that the camp has made me realise that no matter how rough or smooth is the day, God is with me each step of the way. I also understood that God hears every prayer and answers them in His time. This gives me the confidence and motivation that I need to carry out my daily routine.
