Dear people of God.We, the Chinese Apostolate of St.Joseph ‘s church, Sentul celebrated the Chinese New Year Mass on Tuesday, 5 th February 2019 at 9.00 am. The celebrant of this special mass was our new priest-in-residence, Monsignor. James. Ganapiragasan. In his homily, he reminded us to be always faithful and always put our trust in God in everything that we do. When we put God first in our lives, God showers us with his unconditional love and blessings, providing success to our work.
As the CNY mass concluded, the celebrant proceeded with the blessing of the oranges with holy water. Next took place the 3 bows :
- First bow to God the Father, to God the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
- Second bow for the celebrant as our shepherd, guiding our parish.
- And the final bow to each other as a sign of unity.
The Commentator invited all the parishioners to come forward to collect the angpow and oranges. Mr. Justin Ng then led Monsignor James to the entrance of the church where the Lion dance troupe waited to welcome the celebrant. Greetings of bow (3 times) to God at the entrance of the church. Followed on to the parochial house for blessings and another 3 bows. After which the fire crackers were lit up. The Lion dance troupe led everyone present to the courtyard for their presentation. The angpows were also given to the children of the lion dance troupe (which cpnsists of children from the homes). The Lion Dance was greatly enjoyed by all, and a lovely way to usher in the Lunar New Year as one.
May God continue to bless all our work in service, as Jesus came to serve and not to be served, so that the world will be a place to live in harmoniously together.
God bless.
Your’s in Christ,
