Sharing God’s Love Through giving –
Children’s Christmas Party at the Church of St. Joseph, Sentul

This year, the Church of St. Joseph Sentul celebrated its annual Children’s Christmas Party with the heartfelt theme, “Sharing God’s Love Through Giving on 15th December 2024.” The dedicated organizing committee began preparations three months prior with the blessing of our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Frederick Joseph, embarking on a mission to raise funds and gather donations through weekly breakfast sale, and with the generosity of donors and sponsors.
The joyous event saw the presence of approximately 540 children, which comprised of catechetical students, the Myanmar community, Educare, and the PIHD, accompanied by their parents. We were delighted to have Two homes, St. Mary’s home & Joy home who participated in the Christmas Party celebration. The celebration started with a grand entrance of Rev. Fr. Frederick Joseph and Msgr. James Gnanapiragasam while the Form 5 students were singing a Christmas carol, “Joy to the World,” setting a reverent and festive tone for the day. The event also celebrated Msgr. James’s 56th sacerdotal anniversary with a special cake-cutting ceremony.
Adding to the excitement, Santa Claus and his Santarinas made a delightful appearance, captivating the children with a lively dance number. The program continued with a series of performances by the catechism students, as well as vibrant presentations from the Myanmar and Sri Lankan communities, bringing the spirit and joy of Christmas through their unique talents and skills.
One of the highlights was a skit performed by the Catechism children, thoughtfully conveying the true reason for celebrating the birth of Christ. This was followed by an engaging clown show, which kept the children thoroughly entertained and delighted.
Throughout the event, various games were organized, providing endless fun and engagement for the children. The joy was further amplified by the availability of sumptuous food that was thoroughly enjoyed by both the children and their parents.
The celebration continued with a second round of carolling, filling the air with melodious Christmas cheer. This was followed by the distribution of beautiful gifts, bringing immense joy to the children. The event concluded with a magical snow show, which left the children in awe, creating unforgettable memories of total enjoyment and festive cheer.
The success of this year’s Children’s Christmas Party was a testament to the tireless efforts of the organizing committee and the overwhelming support from volunteers who came together in full force. Their dedication and collaborative spirit, coupled with the blessing of good weather, ensured a truly memorable and joyous occasion for all.
As we reflect on this event, we are reminded of the power of giving and the profound impact it has on our community, particularly the children, as they experience the warmth and love that embodies the spirit of Christmas.
