On 22nd January, 2017 the Church of St. Joseph, Sentul celebrated Catechetical Sunday by commissioning 33 catechists during the 7.00 am (Tamil) and 9.00 am (English) Masses. According to Rev. Fr. George Packiasamy, the Catechism is the heart and fundamentals of our Catholic Church and the Catechism, is offered to all the faithful who want to have a better understanding of the Catholic faith.
An 8-minutes video was presented to highlight the major activities and achievements of 2016 by the Catechetical Ministry. Certificates of Appreciation were also presented by Fr. George Packiasamy to 25 catechists for their dedication and valuable time in teaching the Catechism.
As a catechist in Catechism and RCIA for 4 years, it has been a rewarding journey, teaching my kids each Sunday and every Tuesdays for the adult RCIA candidates. I too have my personal challenges, struggles and other stresses but no matter what, for the love of God, I will continue to be in this ministry as He gives me the strength to share about our Catholic Faith. As a catechist, I too have grown in my Catholic Faith, which has been challenging, yet at the same time it has been fulfilling. I would like to say this as a catechist, we too must teach our children, both young and old, respect, kindness, fairness, compassion and forgiveness as Jesus taught us. Nothing beats teaching about faith to our children.
