The Sentul Health Clinic, together with our Parish Integral Human Development (PIHD) team organised a “Free Healthy Living Lifestyle” programme on Sunday, 25th October 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hall from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.
Around 120 parishioners, local people and migrants who are living in the surrounding vicinity participated in this programme and were treated to free medical screening for tests such as Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Pap Smear, as well as dental examination. A briefing on “Healthy Living Lifestyle” was presented by Dr Indarani and Dr Gupreet Kaur. Adults as well as catechism students from Forms One to Five benefited from attending this informative session.
The objectives of this event were:
- To create awareness among the youths on healthy living,
- To create an awareness of chronic illnesses: symptoms and precautions, etc.
- To set up a team of volunteers who will be prepared to monitor the medical health of the local community.
To this end, (as part of the Healthy Living Lifestyle programme), about 20 parishioners were identified and a group named “Jiran Medic” was formed. This team of volunteers will be trained regularly by the Sentul Health Clinic to do simple medical screening for blood sugar, blood pressure, etc on a regular basis in SJC parish.
YBhg. Tuan Haji Abdul Halim bin Omar (Deputy Director from Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional) officiated at the programme which commenced at 10 am. Our Archbishop Most Rev. Julian Leow was also present.
Our appreciation and thanks to YBhg. Dato’ Natarajah Appavoo, Pengerusi Panel Penasihat, Sentul Health Clinic, and our PIHD team under the supervision of Mr Edwin Alphouns for successfully organising this “FREE HEALTHY LIVING LIFESTYLE PROGRAMME”. Congratulations to all parishioners who took their time to access the services offered.
