About 23 Muslim students from various universities within Peninsular Malaysia attended the interfaith forum held on Sunday, 9th October 2016 at St. Joseph Church Sentul. They were representatives of an NGO called “Global Unity Network”. The team was led by their President Mr. Shah Kirit who in fact is a part time lecturer in Islamic subject in our Catholic Seminaries based in Penang and Kuching.
We were bestowed with the honour to host such a pivotal function that could supplement any discernment towards our Catholic faith. The 23 Muslim students observed the 9.00 am Eucharistic Celebration in St.Joseph Church and thereafter, they were taken on a tour around the St.Joseph premises and interacted with the parishioners of our church through a small fellowship. They were offered a great opportunity to participate in an open dialogue with the Director of the Catholic Archdiocesan Pastoral Institute, Rev. Fr. Clarence Devadass.
Mr. Shah Kirit, on behalf of the students, then gifted St.Joseph Parish with a Holy Book of Islam, the Al-Quran, as a symbol of their appreciation to us. It is a very crucial time for us all Malaysians to collectively interface on all our diverse cultures, faiths and social behaviors and to coexist by ensuing compatible and forbearing awareness.
Our sincere thanks goes to Rev. Fr. George Packiasamy for hosting this significant event. May our Good Lord bless all our country with populace brothers and sisters.
