A New Beacon of Faith: BEC St. Josaphat is Proclaimed as the 32nd BEC in the Church of St. Joseph, Sentul
In a joyful and historic celebration for the parish, a new Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) was born on the evening of November 12, 2025. Christened BEC St. Josaphat, the community was officially inaugurated with a Holy Mass at the residence of Sister Teresa Shaun, marking a significant step in strengthening the grassroots faith community.
The inaugural Mass, presided over by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Frederick Joseph and attended by seven founding families, began at 8:10 PM. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of anticipation and hope as the community gathered for this special occasion.
A Patron for Unity and Mission

During his homily, Fr. Frederick unveiled the name of the new BEC and illuminated the inspiring life of its patron saint. He detailed how St. Josaphat, a bishop and martyr, worked tirelessly for Christian unity and served as a bridge-builder, a virtue deeply relevant to the mission of a BEC.
Fr. Frederick emphasized that the seven families present were not just attendees but the Founding Members of this new spiritual family. He further highlighted the significance of the date, as November 12th is the annual memorial of St. Josaphat, forever linking the community’s birthday with its patron’s feast day.
A Formal Proclamation and a Pledge of Support
Following the homily, the moment of official proclamation arrived. Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) representatives, Richard Ganesh and Nelson Dass, were invited to read the Text of Proclamation. The reading was met with a warm and enthusiastic round of applause, formally welcoming BEC St. Josaphat into the parish family.
The liturgy continued with the Prayer of the Faithful and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. After the final blessing, Richard Ganesh addressed the gathering, assuring the new BEC of the unwavering moral and spiritual support from the Parish Priest, PPC, PCC, and the BECCOT.
First Core Team Elected and Fellowship Shared
With this foundation of support, the community proceeded to elect its first Core Team. Through the support of its members, the following leaders were chosen to guide the BEC:
- BEC Coordinator: Teresa Shaun
- Assistant BEC Coordinator: Naresh
- Secretary: Erica
The celebratory evening drew to a close with a delicious fellowship meal, sponsored by the members of the new BEC. The gathering was a fitting end to a blessed day, filled with promise for the future of this vibrant new community as it embarks on its journey of faith, service, and unity under the guidance of St. Josaphat.
