The St Joseph’s Catechetical Ministry had organised a 2-day camp for its’ Catechism students on (Saturday) 9th and (Sunday)10th of July, 2016 in the SJC Formation Hall themed “Building Bridges with the Spirit of Beatitudes”. This camp was attended by 104 catechism students varying from Form 1 till Form 5. The retreat camp was concluded with the Eucharistic Celebration on Sunday 6 pm and it was animated by our Form 5 catechism students.
This was the Catechetical Ministry’s second retreat in conjunction with the Year of Mercy 2016. The first retreat had been held three months earlier and was attended by our Standard 3 till Standard 6 catechism students. The presenters in both these camps were solely by our very own catechism teachers who had each adopted a Beatitude and presented it in forms of inputs, group sharing, video clips, songs and prayers.
These retreats and formations have helped our catechism students to enhance their commitment and attitudes on the core fundamental teachings of “Jesus about the Beatitudes during the Sermon on the Mount” (Mt 5: 1-12). The same theme had also challenged them to elevate themselves in pureness, in mercifulness and in being peacemakers from within through their own words and deeds during this Year of Mercy and to continue in the same paths throughout their lives.
These two retreat camps and formations for the primary and secondary catechism students has brought about the deepening in their faith education and given them a discerning perspective on the 8 Beatitudes. We, the Catechism Teachers realise the need to organise likewise spiritual formations every year so as to enlighten and en-kindle the growth of our students knowledge in God. Our appreciation goes out to all the parents for their continual support and encouragement in their children’s faith formations. And our utmost gratitude to all our Students and Teachers for participating in these camps and making them meaningful in Jesus’ name.
