‘I am alive because of Jesus’ was the theme chosen for the Church of St. Joseph’s very first RCIA Reunion Night, which took place on Sunday, 18th Aug 2019 at 7.30 pm at Dewan Monsignor Anthony Thomas.
This remarkable event was initiated by our Parish priest Rev. Fr. George Packiasamy and organised by the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and PMEIA (Parish Ministry for Ecumenical and Inter-religious Affairs) teams.
The objective of this event was to gather all past years RCIA baptised and confirmed Neophytes to stay connected as one family with the church and parish community.
Around 45 Neophytes attended this Reunion Night. The former RCIA batch from the 1980s,1990s, 2000s and up to the current year 2019, were present to make this event a memorable one.
Monsignor James Gnanapiragasm, our priest in residence officiated the event with an opening prayer followed by the blessing of the food, after which dinner was served.
The facilitators took the opportunity to have a chit chat session with the Neophytes to follow-up on their current lifestyle and challenges they may be facing living a Catholic life since they have come from different religious, cultural and mixed marriage backgrounds. The Neophytes also had the opportunity to have an open conversation with the facilitators. The facilitators would be keeping in touch with the Neophytes to provide the necessary support to help them deepen their faith and to build the kingdom of God.
After dinner, Rev. Fr. George Packiasamy in his speech reassured the Neophytes that they belong to Christ and that the Church needs them. The Neophytes were reminded to revive their faith by participating in mass, prayer, proclamation of the word of God and getting involved in the various church ministries.
The evening’s itinerary also included some games, video presentations of the RCIA journey for all batches, and a cake cutting and photography sessions with the Neophytes.
The Parish of St. Joseph was pleased to welcome all the RCIA Neophytes to this 1st Reunion Night. Through this event, a lot of memories and love were shared. We hope that this joyful event would be cherished in our hearts forever.
Kudos to the team who endeavoured to ensure the success of this event. God bless!
