On Saturday 23 November 2024, a recollection session was organized by our church for all the RCIA candidates of batch 2024/2025. About 15 candidates took part in this session. It began with greetings and an opening prayer. The session continued with praise and worship in both Tamil and English, where the coordinators, facilitators and candidates joined together in song, praising God through music.
The first activity was called “Lost and Found.” This activity emphasized that no matter how difficult life may be or how helpless we might feel, God will always hold our hands and guide us through it. After a short break, the facilitator began by telling the story of the 3 kings, who play an important role in the birth of Jesus. This was followed by a Christmas skit that beautifully reenacted the birth of Jesus Christ, with all the RCIA candidates and facilitators actively participating.
The skit featured key characters from the Nativity story, including Angel Gabriel, Mary, Joseph, King Herod, the Three Wise Men, the Shepherds, a priest, a soldier, and a hotel owner. By acting in these roles, the candidates not only had fun but also gained a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Christmas. Each character helped bring the story to life, showing love, hope, and faith, and sharing the message of Christmas.
After the lunch break, the session continued with two topics, ‘Come and Follow’ and ‘New Identity’. These sessions reminded the candidates that we are all God’s children, chosen by Him as his sons and daughters even before we were born. Therefore, we are called to transform our current identity into one that reflects our true identity as children of God. A true Catholic identity should be embraced and
lived out from this moment forward.
Before concluding the day, there was a rehearsal for the Rite of Acceptance, which will take place on 30th November during the sunset Mass. The session ended with a closing prayer, followed by an evening tea, allowing everyone to reflect and share their experiences.
